Enjoy Buttersville Park, Campground, & Beach that Sit on the Bluff Overlooking Lake Michigan

Located between Lake Michigan and Pere Marquette Lake, Buttersville Park & Campground has perhaps the greatest view of all the parks. As you enter the shaded park off South Lakeshore Drive, you’ll find a picnic area with grills, playground, restrooms, and a pavilion. Don’t be surprised to see numerous deer in Buttersville- they seem to feel quite at home here and are comfortable with visitors.

The Buttersville Campground is open from May 15th-October 15th each year and boasts beautiful Lake Michigan Beach frontage. It also has a day park, picnic facilities, and is dog-friendly. Visit pmtwp.org/residents/recreational_parks.php to make reservations.

Further into the park, a wooden seating area offers a breathtaking view of the Lake Michigan shoreline, including the North Breakwater Lighthouse in the distance. Climb the steps down to the expansive beach, perfect for swimming and sunning. It’s a romantic spot to view the sunset, with more privacy guaranteed during the spring and autumn months.

The beach is open for celebrations with no fee or permits required. One requirement is that no tents are allowed but setting up chairs is acceptable.

Next door to the campground is Buttersville Beach, where pets are welcome to romp in the water.
